Having a heart baby

🥰 Having a baby with a heart condition makes you appreciate every little thing.

And I don’t mean in a silver-lining kind of way.

It’s so not a cloud. ☁️

It’s an unexpected ray of sunshine that makes everything a little brighter. ☀️

In my 30th week of my pregnancy, they noticed something on a routine ultrasound. 🤰

After a few scary visits to specialists, our worst fears were realized.

The baby had a heart defect called “Tricuspid Atresia.” 🫀

He literally has half of a heart.

This usually means that these babies are frail and sickly and struggle to eat and gain weight because eating makes them too tired.

This gorgeous giant baby is above the 99th percentile in all categories. He is 5 months (today) and wearing 18 month clothes and continues to “defy all Logic.”

In one week, Logic will go in for his first of at least 2 life-saving open heart surgeries. 😷

We are grateful to live minutes away from one of the top pediatric cardio thoracic surgeons in the country, Dr. Harold Burkhardt.

Although his heart hasn’t affected his quality of life so far at all, he’s struggled with severe reflux and colic.

So every little snuggle, smile, laugh, and touch means more than you can even imagine. ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you in advance for all the support, thoughts, prayers, and meals this upcoming week. 🙏
